Dr. Clemons

Dr. Gregory A. Clemons is a distinguished scholar and educator specializing in Spanish language, Hispanic American literature, and international cultural studies. He currently serves as the Program Director of Humanities and Spanish at St. Augustine College in Chicago, where he leads curriculum development and fosters cross-cultural academic engagement.

Dr. Clemons earned his B.S. and M.A. in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his Ph.D. in Spanish from the University of Florida. With a career spanning over 25 years in higher education, he has taught courses in both English and Spanish, focusing on Latin American and Peninsular literature, identity studies, and linguistic translation.

Prior to his current role, he spent over 26 years at Mars Hill University as a Professor of Spanish and International Travel Coordinator, where he facilitated study abroad programs and language immersion experiences. His extensive research has been presented at over 50 national and international conferences, highlighting his contributions to Hispanic literary identity and cross-cultural understanding.

Beyond academia, Dr. Clemons has served as a board member for several cultural and linguistic organizations, including the Foreign Language Association of North Carolina, the World Affairs Council of Western North Carolina, and Asheville Sister Cities, Inc. His expertise in leadership, translation, and international cultural issues continues to drive his commitment to global education and interdisciplinary scholarship.
